THIEPVAL Barracks has celebrated its 70th
anniversary as a base in the heart of Lisburn by inviting local
people to come in and hear plans for the future.
For the past 70 years Thiepval has been a
part of the local community in Lisburn but for the first time,
last Saturday, local residents
were invited by the Station Commander,
Lieutenant Colonel Ewen Turner, to go into camp to see a
presentation entitled 'Past, Present and Future.
Lt Col Turner welcomed everyone to the
Barracks and explained the aim of the presentation was to be a
good neighbour, keep local people informed of how the camp will
change over the next couple of years and try, where possible, to
deal with any of their concerns.
He highlighted two major events 'Party In the
Park' and 'Fireworks Night' and his intention to once again
invite the local community into Thiepval Barracks to share in
the festivities.
Residents were served light refreshments
throughout the morning and given the opportunity to chat
informally to Lt Col Turner.
