Some of the St. Patrick's pupils on the ski
slopes.
PUPILS from St. Patricks High School recently paid a visit to
Pamporovo in Bulgaria where they enjoyed a week of skiing. A
group of 20 pupils and three members of staff set off for
Bulgaria from February 23 to March 1, where they eagerly took to
the slopes.
The pupils, ranging from year 10 to year 14, enjoyed the
benefits of up to four hours tuition from expert instructors
every day in the idyllic surroundings The ski runs at Pamporovo
are ideal for beginners, but also offer challenges for the more
advanced skier. In the evenings pupils had the chance to explore
other activities such as ice-skating and the ever-popular
bumboarding. They also enjoyed discos and table quizzes hosted
by the local hotels. On the final night before departure a
presentation evening was held with certificates awarded to those
who had proven their skiing skills with music and refreshments
provided. All agreed that the trip was an outstanding success
and that a fantastic time was had by all. Most of the pupils
were beginners, but made significant progress throughout the
week, moving on to negotiating blue and even red slopes. Pupils
are very excited about the prospect of an even more spectacular
skiing holiday next year, with plans already in motion.
