Wallace High School Sixth Year students who
visited Stormont on the historic final day of office of Ian
Paisley.
WALLACE High School Government and Politics
students recently had the opportunity of a lifetime when they
visited The Northern Ireland Assembly on a historic occasion,
the final day of Dr Ian Paisley's day in office.
Lower sixth student Erin Graham explained,"When
we arrived at Stormont we were taken on a guided tour of the
assembly which really helped us understand our local political
system and gave us a glimpse into a politician's life. We then
met our local MP, Jeffrey Donaldson who took us to Castle
buildings which house the Office of the First and Deputy First
Ministers." Andrew McCabe went on, "We also enjoyed a question
and answer session with Mr Donaldson which was very thought
provoking, before meeting the First Minister Dr Ian Paisley."
Teacher Julie Dumigan concluded, "We' thank Mr Donaldson and
Dr Paisley for giving of their time. The trip really helped
Politics come alive for the Wallace students. We are now looking
forward to visiting Westminster in June on our annual Sixth Form
trip."
