A FUNDRAISER with a difference has raised
over 8000 for an Ovarian Cancer charity.
Last week the friends and family of the late
Mrs Helen Megarry, a wife and mother from Hillsborough, who
passed away last year following a courageous battle against
ovarian cancer, organised a Ladies Tractor run and bbq.
The event attracted over 300 people and 50
tractors were involved in the tractor from Hillsborough to
Magheralin.
Helen Coulter, a friend of the late Mrs
Megarry said: It was a brilliant night and we even had some men
dressed up as ladies so they could take part. We are overwhelmed
by the support and people are still donating money. I would like
to thank all the marshalls who volunteered, the suppliers of
items for the auction, the ladies who participated and of course
everyone who donated money. It is all greatly appreciated."
Helen said that the money will go to 'Angels
of Hope', (www.angelsofhope.org.uk)
a charity based in Northern Ireland, whose aims are to raise
awareness of ovarian cancer and improve knowledge amongst the
general public and the medical profession, fund vital research,
and to link sufferers, survivors and families.
"We are delighted to be able to help such a
worthy cause and I hope our efforts will encourage more women to
look out for the signs of ovarian cancer."
