MEMBERS of Connor Diocese Mothers' Union
attended the Family Morning organised by Lisburn Parents' Forum,
which was held recently, in Lisburn Downtown Centre.
At this lively and well-attended event,
Mothers' Union had the opportunity to promote their Parenting
Project. Great interest was shown and the Mayor, Councillor
Ronnie Crawford
endorsed the need for such projects.
This is a project where Mothers' Union offers
fully NVQ Level 3 trained Parenting Facilitators to run
Parenting Courses for groups of 6 -10 parents over 6 - 8 weeks.
Family Caring Trust and Parent Talk are two examples of the
courses followed.
The slant taken can come from a Christian aspect
or from a purely secular angle, depending on the group's wishes.
This service is provided free of charge apart
from a small voluntary contribution towards materials.
All that is asked is that the organisers
provide a suitable venue and, of course, participants.
A facilitator is only too willing to talk to
anyone interested in setting up a group and can be contacted on
rodgersdkp@dnet.co.uk.
