New appointments and presentations at Lower Iveagh District Meeting

Lower Iveagh LOL No 1 District meeting in Dromore Orange Hall on Thursday 9th October saw the election of district office bearers for 2009 and over �1000 presented to the Lord Enniskillen Memorial Orphan Society.

Deputy District Master Bro Dr Jonathan Mattison was elected Worshipful District Master in succession to Bro Eric Jess who has held the post for two years. Maurice Coburn, Worshipful Master of Carnew LOL No 982 replaces Dr Mattison in the deputy chair and the District Secretary, Bro David Hobson, was re-elected. Installations of these and all other office bearers will take place at the district meeting on Wednesday 14th January 2009.

Prior to the meeting four presentations took place: Alicia Dickson of Lower Iveagh Cultural and Heritage Committee presented two cheques to Bro Drew Nelson (Secretary - Grand Orange Lodge, Ireland) for forwarding to the Lord Enniskillen Memorial Orphan Society. The cheque for �528 was the offering taken up at the District Service held in Second Dromara Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon 6th July and the cheque for �200 was the offering taken up at the service of �My Favourite Hymns� held in Dromore Orange Hall on Sunday evening 13th July. Bro Eric Jess, Worshipful District Master, then presented a gift of Tyrone Crystal to Alicia Dickson of the Lower Iveagh Cultural and Heritage Committee in recognition of her work in organising events held during this year�s Ulster Scots Festival.

In the fourth presentation, District WM of Down Women�s District LOL No 4, Sister May Dickson, Treasurer of Corbet Accordion Band, presented a cheque for �300 to Bro Drew Nelson for forwarding to the Lord Enniskillen Memorial Orphan Society. The money was raised at a BBQ at Corbet Orange Hall on Monday 14th July when a gift was auctioned to raise funds for the charity.

The presentation was made at the Lower Iveagh District LOL No 1 district meeting in Dromore Orange Hall on Thursday 9th October.
