Lisburn Tale Tellers New Year programme

LISBURN Tale Tellers' New Year Season will kick off in Lisburn City Library on Wednesday January 14 at 8pm with Billy Teare and Kathleen O'Sullivan.

The line-up of storytellers programmed from January until March promises Lisburn Tale Tellers' audiences lively evening entertainment including a varied range of storytelling styles, musical accompaniment, refreshments and the opportunity to mingle with friends, old and new. Larne man Billy Teare is one of the most popular storytellers around.

He honed his audience skills on the tough Belfast comedy circuit. He will be joined by the singer Kathleen 0' Sullivan.

They met five years ago, working as solo artists at Sidmouth folk festival. Tale Tellers will be delighted to welcome Billy and Kathleen to Lisburn for a bit more of the auld lang Sang.

Love will be in the air for the February gig on Wednesday February 11 with St Valentines Day approaching. Lisburn City Library will present a debut performance by The Story Teller Man, Stephen Reid who may be better known locally as the recently retired manager of Lisburn's Atlas Womens' Centre.

Also providing original stories and poetry will be local award winning writer Lynda Tavakoli and several friends from her writers' class who come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience.

Lynda and some of her students have thoroughly entertained Tale Tellers audiences before.

The library look forward to welcoming once again both the 'old hands' and some complete beginners for a evening of romantic tales.

In the run up to St Patrick's Day on Wednesday March 11 Tale Tellers will be delighted to present the long time favourite American storyteller Pat Ryan.

Dr. Ryan is influenced by the folklore of Britain, Ireland, and America and incorporates these traditions into his performances.

His tales take the forms of legends, rhymes, stories, myth, riddles, and word play which create a unique and engaging style.

Everyone is welcome. As seating is limited, booking is advisable. Please contact Lisburn City library Linenhall Street, Tel: 9263 3350 or Email lisburncitylibrary@ni-libraries.net.
