142nd Kilmakee Girl's Brigade is celebrating
50 years.
The photograph shows the senior PE team which
won the British Isles PE competition in 1977.
THIS YEAR marks the 50th anniversary of 142nd
Kilmakee Girls Brigade. Formerly called Seymour Hill
Presbyterian GB the first company night took place in September
1958 in the neighbouring Orange Hall where it continued to meet
until the building of the new church was complete.
Under the Captaincy of Mrs E Hunter the
company registered 36 members and continued to grow.
During her 40 years as Captain Mrs Anne
Russell encouraged girls of all ages to reach their potential
through the variety of activities the Girl's Brigade has to
offer.
To mark the occasion of the anniversary newly
appointed Captain, Mrs Audrey Godfrey, is inviting all past
officers and members to join them at their Enrolment Service in
Kilmakee Presbyterian Church on Sunday November 16 at 6.30pm.
Refreshments will be served after the service in the church
Hall.
