LAMBEG
boy Liam McCullagh has achieved further musical success when he
picked up two All Ireland silver medals at the recent Fleadh
Cheoil na hEireann in Tullamore, Co. Offally.
12-year-old Liam, who won four gold medals
and a silver at the Ulster Fleadh Cheoil in July, was
representing Co. Antrim and Ulster at the competition. He won
his medals in the uilleann pipes competition and trio
competition.
The All Ireland Fleadh competitions represent
the highest standard in traditional Irish music and they really
are international given that competitors from Britain and the
US, as well as Ireland take part.
Liam's father Michael said: "All his family
and friends are very proud at Liam's achievement in winning two
All Ireland medals. Liam has a strong interest in Irish music
and uilleann piping in particular. He practises a lot and it is
pleasing to see his hard work being rewarded. The most important
thing of all is that he continues to enjoy playing his music,
that is something we are all looking forward to."
