THE
Harry Ferguson Celebration Committee are appealing for
ex-employees of Harry Ferguson to come forward and be part of
celebration event on August 16, when the grand opening of the
long-awaited memorial garden will take place.
The committee have been staging Ferguson
tractor events for over seven years at Growell, Dromore, with
the hope of producing a memorial to Ireland's greatest inventor
and pioneer Mr Harry Ferguson.
The committee would like to contact as many
ex workers who were employed by Harry over the years or indeed
any person who had any personal contact or memories of Harry and
family on the homestead. This annual event is a special time for
all Ferguson enthusiasts, and this year will be even more so as
they finally open the memorial garden opposite the homestead. A
bronze statue will be unveiled by Harry's granddaughter, Mrs
Sally Fleming from London. A big attendance is expected with
visitors from Sweden, England, Scotland, Wales and all over
Ireland. The committee would like local people to attend and
tell the story as it was in Harry Ferguson's time. If you would
like to contribute your story, please contact Bill Forsythe on
028 92692110 or George Cromie on 028 92682151.
