A LISBURN man has spoken of his pride after becoming figurehead
for the security industry in Northern Ireland.
Robert Willis of Checkmate Guarding and
Security in Young Street is the new Chairperson of the British
Security Industry Association's Northern Ireland Region.
He was unanimously elected to the position at
a recent meeting of the organisation.
Mr. Willis is now a 'champion for higher
standards' in the industry prior to the impending Security
Industry Association Licensing due in November of next year. He
said he was delighted to receive the 'vote of confidence.
"The security industry has always had a bad
reputation - this is something that will change in November 2009
and I am proud to be at the forefront of this revolution," he
added.
"The introduction of the SIA licensing means
that all security guards must be independently trained and
licensed. This will go a long way to warding off the old
suspicions and making the industry much more professional,"
Bobby explained.
"All of our officers are already thoroughly
vetted and extensively trained as if licensing was already in
place. This licensing means that other companies will have to
follow in our footsteps."
Bobby will spend his time as Chairman leading
committees and discussions dealing with the security industry in
Northern Ireland.
